Algumas das consequências desagradáveis desse estado mental são as falhas de memória ocasionais, a dificuldade de manter o foco, e o baixo nível de tolerância emocional.
O estilo de vida moderno faz com que sejamos estimulados por sons, imagens e informações o tempo todo. Além do contato cara a cara com outras pessoas, nossa atenção é disputada constantemente pelos:
1) Barulhos e aromas do ambiente em que estamos inseridos.
2) Mensagens do smartphone, que não param de chegar.
3) Internet, televisão e as redes sociais.
4) Trabalho em que atuamos.
Sem perceber, somos dominados por essas influências externas que deixam nossa mente agitada.
Atualmente, em um único dia, uma criança recebe a mesma quantidade de informações que um homem adulto recebia por toda vida no século XV. Você que é professor sabe, como é difícil manter a atenção dos alunos durante a aula.
Esse excesso de estímulos diminui a nossa capacidade de concentração e pode nos leva a exaustão mental.
O curioso é que apesar do cansaço, muitas pessoas não conseguem pegar no sono com facilidade, porque a mente fica viciada nesse padrão mental agitado e não relaxa nem na hora de dormir.
Nós não podemos mudar a velocidade com que a comunicação se propaga hoje em dia, mas precisamos aprender a cuidar da nossa saúde mental. Aprender a controlar nossos pensamentos para conviver com a realidade sem nos prejudicar.
Para quebrar um padrão de pensamentos acelerados é preciso criar momentos de silêncio mental. Veja bem, eu não estou dizendo que você não vai pensar em nada, porque isso não existe. Você precisa pensar em uma coisa de cada vez, desenvolver a capacidade de foco, com isso você acalma a sua mente.
Eu gosto muito de rezar, de focar minha atenção na imagem de Maria Santíssima e ficar sentindo o amor que ela emana para toda a humanidade. Mas, se você não gosta de se conectar ao sagrado, você pode fechar os olhos e se concentrar na ponta do seu dedão do pé, ou mesmo, apenas imaginar que há uma maçã em frente ao seu rosto. É uma questão de treinamento, comece a praticar essas visualizações 3 vezes ao dia por 30 segundos. Depois, aumente esse tempo até alcançar 2 minutos.
No começo, não será fácil, mas com a prática sua mente ficará condicionada, e vai se acostumar a silenciar os pensamentos agitados.”
